The Grid Technical Working Group is convened to discuss technical requirements related to BeSTGRID's grid middleware.

[edit] Recoding Instructions for TWG convenor

Record the meeting by pressing the Recorder button in the main Koala window and then starting the recorder

To publish the recording:

  • Follow instructions in EVOPlayer manual: [1]]
  • Open the recording in EVO player: start EVOPlayer from: [2]
  • Choose *File* -> *Export* -> *EVXCreator*
  • Enter the name of the recording: TWG-YYYY-MM-DD
  • Enter source URL on the BeSTGRID Media server: http://media.bestgrid.org/TWG-YYYY-MM-DD/
  • Select a folder ($HOME/EVO Recordings) and enter EVX file name - TWG-YYYY-MM-DD.evx
  • Upload the EVO recording files (via SCP) to media.bestgrid.org/var/www/html/TWG-YYYY-MM-DD
    • Put the EVX file into /var/www/html
    • Update /var/www/html/index.html to point to the EVX file (as an argument to EVOPlayer)

All contracted technical project members are required to actively participate in the Technical WG, and participation is open to other members of the community working directly with BeSTGRID. If you would like to participate, or know more about this group, please contact us.

[edit] Role of the Technical Working Group

  • Host a Technical forum: Provide a monthly forum for the hands on technical community and other interested parties to
    1. discuss current technical work streams;
    2. mentor other members;
    3. facilitate technology transfer between sites and institutions;
    4. replication of capabilities and services;
    5. share progress, experiences and insights through demonstration and presentation.
  • Facilitation & Coordination: Coordinate the focus of every forum session with the Project Manager, with the aim of keeping the technical community aligned with contract and project milestones and progress.
  • Communication: Communicate out to both the Steering Committee, and to Operators and Stakeholders, on issues of relevance, and in feeding back on specific requests. This should include
    • notices to Stakeholders and Operators on (planned and unplanned) service related issues, changes, outages, etc;
    • feedback to the Steering Committee on requests for information and technical advice;

[edit] Responsibilities of the Chair

  • Plan in advance all meetings for the remainder of the project, aligned with contract and project deliverables and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with Strategy groups on selection of focus areas and agendas.
  • Manage meeting schedule
  • Coordinate meeting agenda with Project Manager and appropriate presenters
  • Promote meeting agenda at least 2 weeks in advance
  • Maintain record of meeting attendance, agenda, and discussion
  • Report quarterly to Project Manager inline with Contract and Project reporting requirements
